The California Workers Compensation Law is designed to protect both the employee and the employer in the event of an on-the-job injury. The State of California Department of Industrial Relations - Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) monitors the administration of workers' compensation claims, and provides administrative and judicial services to assist in resolving disputes that arise in connection with claims for workers' compensation benefits.
These claims include on-the-job injuries due to a specific event or injuries that occur over time due to repetitive physical stress such as carpal tunnel syndrome and leg problems, and work related illnesses such as hypertension, breathing proplems exposure to toxic substances, chemicals or fumes. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), oversees safety.
